Objectives
The learning objectives of the ISTQB® Advanced Technical Test Analyst training are as follows:
Risk-Based Testing focuses on identifying, analyzing, and assessing technical risks within a software system. Participants will learn how to contribute to risk mitigation strategies and prioritize test cases based on potential impact and likelihood. By applying risk-based testing approaches, they can optimize testing efforts and ensure that critical areas receive the most attention.
White-Box Test Techniques provide insight into various structural testing methods, including control flow, data flow, and decision table testing. Participants will explore different code coverage metrics such as statement, branch, and path coverage. Additionally, they will gain experience with API and component-level testing to ensure internal structures function as intended.
Analytical Techniques introduce both static and dynamic analysis methods to detect defects and performance issues. Participants will learn how static analysis tools help identify potential weaknesses in code, while dynamic analysis techniques aid in uncovering memory leaks, security vulnerabilities, and runtime inefficiencies.
Quality Characteristics for Technical Testing cover non-functional aspects such as performance, reliability, security, maintainability, and portability. Testers will learn how to derive test conditions from non-functional requirements and assess software against various quality attributes to ensure a robust and efficient system.
Reviews and Static Testing emphasize the role of a Technical Test Analyst in conducting code reviews and formal inspections. Participants will gain expertise in reviewing software architecture, design, and implementation, applying best practices to identify defects early in the development lifecycle. Static analysis tools will also be explored to improve code quality.
Test Tools and Automation focus on the selection, implementation, and maintenance of automated testing solutions. Participants will learn how to design test automation frameworks, write maintainable test scripts, and integrate automation into continuous integration (CI) pipelines. The course covers best practices for leveraging automation to enhance test efficiency.
Security and Performance Testing equip testers with the knowledge to identify security threats, vulnerabilities, and weaknesses within a system. They will learn to conduct penetration testing, apply ethical hacking techniques, and perform load, stress, and scalability testing. Additionally, performance monitoring and tuning strategies will be explored to optimize system responsiveness.
